It’s been awhile since I have posted. To be honest not much has been going on. The holiday season is upon us and it’s getting busy.
Festivus came and went. It was a relatively tame year, which might be good. Brad and Kristi, thanks for hosting.
It looks like I’ll be installing a new water heater this weekend. I think mine is corroding now. It looks like it’s pretty stinking new… It’s always something.
Now on to the subject at hand. Tina and I have been playing some Guitar Hero on the Wii this week. Tonight I finally got fed up trying to beat songs on hard and playing the same old medium songs trying to beat my old high scores. So I hopped online to play some matches. It still seems a little spotty for the Wii. You get a match 1 out of 3 attempts. It was fun, a different twist. Here is the box score, if you will
Pro Face Off on Expert
Best of 5
Grimley vs einhander
wins 0 vs 3
best streak 44 vs 302
highest score 58548 vs 257823
black magic woman
26095 vs 209628
sabotage
58548 vs 159678 (only playing 2/3 the song, I think he felt bad for me.)
cult of personality
22433 vs 257823
It was more comical than anything because I can barely play hard let alone expert. Definitely something I am gonna have more fun with though.
Well, Guitar Hero has finally arrived. J and I were able to thrash early.. or late as it were. Battle mode is pretty f’n cool, whether it be co-op or head to head. My band name is “Taint Ed Saint”. A little play on words. I’m whipping right through the sets on Easy. It’ll be time to up the ante soon.
The Commander’s birthday was good. It was fun to see him walking around and interacting with another child close to his age. Nice work on the party Courtney and Jason
The Dettloff’s had another fantastic Halloween party. Me, Tina, Chris, and Kathryn went as some characters from Saved By The Bell. Screech, Jesse, Zach, and Kelly respectively. The contest winner was none other than Hulk Hogan. Wonderful job done by Ped. The crew from Anchorman showed up, Fletch made an appearance, as did Steve Irwin (with sting ray intact).
Perhaps some of you have been wondering where I’ve been (on-line). Well it seems IM is no longer allowed while under “the man’s” supervision. I didn’t block you or anything. You’ll have to catch me via e-mail or SMS.
Big Monday night game too. Go Pack!
Finally pulled into my second nearest gamestop and reserved myself a copy of Guitar Hero III for the Wii. For whatever reason my local gamestop doesn’t do the midnight release thing. It’s all good tho.
I’m pretty pumped as I have been a fan of GH on the PS2, but since I don’t own one I’ve never been able to just jam away at my own discretion. Well that’s all gonna change come Oct. 28 at 12:00:00AM. Although I have a prior engagement I’ll make my way up to gamestop for the release. Since I won’t be able to do the early registration I may have to stand in line for a bit, or so says the local nerd with whom I negotiated a copy of Gh3. Jason
says he’s coming over at 12:30 with his guitar. We’ll see what happens since we (he more than me) has a certain little b-day to function at the next day.
I did find it interesting how much more nerdy the employees where I purchased GH3 vs my local shop. No wonder Jason likes to go in there and shoot the shit and ruffle their feathers a bit. Not so much the case at my home location.
Come Sunday let the red bull flow!
You just can’t rally like you used to in the good old days. This has been the longest weekend in a long time and it’s only Sunday morning.
I started out Friday night playing poker a buddies house. I didn’t win anything, but I was close in all games. Red bulls flowed and I was done by midnight, of course I stayed till 3AM playing Guitar Hero, which is one hell of game.
Saturday morning came all too quick. It was time for the 2007 Sno-ball open out on Long Lake. Sno-ball is basically golfing out on the frozen lake. Our tee-time was at 12:05, but we got started late as usual. The weather was against us. It was cold and the wind was fierce. We toughed it out and I even felt like getting started again. I knocked down a few beers.. well at least what didn’t freeze before I drank it. Afterward it hit me. We got inside to go and eat and hang out some more…. Chad was cashed and a mess. Friday night had finally caught up with me and Tina and I had to head home.
Sigh…..
Just throwing this out there as a possibility… but J and I are looking into going to Vegas for my bachelor party. It looks like the weekend of April 5 - 8 (Thursday - Sunday).
My preference is to stay at a decent hotel on the strip with a pool… although a guy has got to wait for the right price. Prices seem a bit high to me at this point. I’ve been monitoring The Flamingo, Tropicana, and Hooters (ghasp). I don’t know much about Hooters other than their hotel rates have been reasonable
If I get a shot to hang out at the pool, drink over-priced booze, slam on the ponies at ESPNZone, place a couple of wagers, have one more shot at the Gilly’s girls, Glitter Gulch, etc.. etc.. I’ll take it.
If you want in let me know.
