Fun in the Sun

It’s official. Destination Angerer/Motylinksi (2) is Cancun, MX. After this arctic cold spell we have been experiencing here, I am ready for some sun. We’ve been debating back and forth over the last couple of months about a cruise, a carribbean destination, or a Mexican destination. We finally settled on Cancun for a week at the end of February. I can’t wait for the beach, the booze, the sun, and maybe some snorkeling… oh and the mule ride.

On a second note, Tina and I attended the AVP Hot Winter Nights tournament at the Target Center last night. It was cool to see the pros play. Some of the names were non-descript if you don’t follow the AVP, but they are still pros. The played King of the Beach style which made it interesting. All of the matches were pretty even which was surprising. I figured there would be at least one pairing either on the Men’s or Women’s side that would dominate.

After talk of all the sun, I am hoping it’s a cure for what I think is a flu or cold bug that I coming down with. I’ve had a sore throat the last two days and I can feel it slowly creeping into my ears, nose, and head. I’m waiting/dreading the morning I wake up with a full blown infection or flu. Unfortunately most of the medicine that helps me is the drowsy kind that makes a guy feel weird. So it’ll have to wait for the weekend.

Speaking of this weekend, it’s the Annual Sno-ball Open. At this point it looks like I will be staying home as it won’t do much for my pending misery. Drinking outdoors while golfing on a large slab of ice tend not to help these situations.

P.S. I finally got an iPhone. It’s been everything I thought it would be and more… next up is a MacBook Pro.

Finally Guitar Hero III

Well, Guitar Hero has finally arrived. J and I were able to thrash early.. or late as it were. Battle mode is pretty f’n cool, whether it be co-op or head to head. My band name is “Taint Ed Saint”. A little play on words. I’m whipping right through the sets on Easy. It’ll be time to up the ante soon.

The Commander’s birthday was good. It was fun to see him walking around and interacting with another child close to his age. Nice work on the party Courtney and Jason

The Dettloff’s had another fantastic Halloween party. Me, Tina, Chris, and Kathryn went as some characters from Saved By The Bell. Screech, Jesse, Zach, and Kelly respectively. The contest winner was none other than Hulk Hogan. Wonderful job done by Ped. The crew from Anchorman showed up, Fletch made an appearance, as did Steve Irwin (with sting ray intact).

Perhaps some of you have been wondering where I’ve been (on-line). Well it seems IM is no longer allowed while under “the man’s” supervision. I didn’t block you or anything. You’ll have to catch me via e-mail or SMS.

Big Monday night game too. Go Pack!

Packers Tickets

I am trying to procure myself and Tina a pair of tickets to Lambeau Field for the game on 11/11. While I can appreciate and certainly enjoy a trek to the motherland, ticket prices become more and more outrageous every day.

Brokers sell them for way to high of a price for anyone to reasonably consider buying them. I feel like they (in kahoots with the Packer organization) create a artificial perception of high demand and low supply to drive prices up. The Packers say “whoa, tickets are sold out and we have this ridiculous waiting list”, while in turn sell thousands of tickets to brokers who fetch 6x face value for these tickets. You think they ain’t working together? Just a theory, but I bet I’m not far off. Of course, the Packers get their cut while the brokers are stuck selling tickets at face or less at kickoff time. Oh well, deserves em right.

The reason I bring that up is because I was talking to Dan (if he had a blog, I would link it here) the other day about tickets to the big game as we have made the trek several times and it’s been a great time. I mentioned that I seemed to remember days in the late 80’s when tickets were pretty much given away. The reason I say this is because my dad and I went to many games. Or so it seemed. I can only imagine how it was several years earlier when GB was even worse. Probably didn’t have any blackouts though! Makes me wonder if a certain pending retirement might boost my spot in the season ticket line :)

Fall Update

It’s been awhile and I keep getting harassed to post something. I’ll take the highroad and won’t name names since most of the harassment comes from non-bloggers.

As you may or may not know Courtney and Jason are just about due for their first child. It’s a pretty exciting time around family. Of course this means one more birthday in the month of October which is already pretty full. My money is on the 18th, same as danger doug.

Tina picked me up a guitar for my birthday. Surprising enough I’ve found a fair amount of time to play and have nailed down most notes, a couple of songs (can you say Jingle Bells, Old MacDonald, and a small piece of Love Me Tender). It won’t be long before I am jamming to some Johnny Cash or Jimmy Page.

I have also decided to move on from MotivAction. I came across what I believe will be a great opportunity and just couldn’t pass it up.

That’s all folks. Hope you enjoyed it. And you can count on another post soon.
