The study of one dog community (over the course of 3 long days)

Jason said it best. Even Cesar Millan would be proud.
A few more quips from the Xerxes Zoo…

1). It’s been a non-stop hump fest. Keep in mind the dogs are all females. The big one on the big one and vice versa. The big one on the little one. I almost feel bad for her.

2). They need to be herded in from outside. It’s no picnic either. If one changes their mind they are back out the door and you have to start all over again.

3). If you give them all a rawhide, they will horde it and each retire to their separate corners… ah bliss at last.

4). The resident dog stomps around like she’s mad at the world because all of her favorite places to hang out are already taken and probably because she gets locked in the kennel and the others are free to roam the big cage during the day. I wonder if they taunt her.. heh.

5). 90% of the time they leave the old crotchety alone alone. See #1 above for the other 10%.

6). They’ve pretty much built their little own community and hierarchal society. Although we pretty much set that one ourselves, since our dog tends to act as the alpha. This weekend she’s been the last to go outside, eat, and come back inside. Also see #5 above.

Oh crap.. I think the rawhides are running out. Back to zoo keeper duties.
